HOT SUN INSTALLATION MANUALS
Hot Sun General Installation Manual This manual must be followed for every installation.
Conventional Shingle Roof Manual Addendum This manual addendum covers basic shingle roof installations where flow goes up the roof slope and collectors are strapped down with poly coated stainless steel strap. The Powerstrips are alternated so there is a removable coupling every second header.
Deluxe Conventional Shingle Roof Manual Addendum This manual addendum covers shingle roof installations where flow goes up the roof slope but using an interface bar along the top to minimize roof connections and so those roof connections can be structural. The fin tubes are glued down keeping them arranged better and minimizing roof penetrations. The piping along the bottom is secured every 27" off the roof allowing water and debris drainage and the bottom Powerstrip manifolds are secured to this return pipe sharing its roof connections. This is our advancement of the state of the art in conventional solar pool heating. Note You can't secure the bottom header (footer technically) manifold on any other solar product so don't use these techniques with any solar panels rigid or flexible.
Sideways on Shingle or Metal Roof Manual Addendum This manual addendum covers horizontal installations where flow goes sideways left to right or right to left and collectors are glued to the roof. The Powerstrip headers alternate so there is a removable coupling every second header. This manual covers angled headers as well.
Staggered Headers on Shingle or Metal Roof Manual Addendum This manual addendum covers the most robust and space efficient technique where headers are staggered eliminating spaces between adjacent sections, headers are interfaced to the roof via UNISTRUT maximizing structural integrity and minimizing roof penetrations. Fin tubing is glued via glue strips and all roof connections. Orientation can be conventional (flow up the roof) or sideways. Angled headers are also covered in this manual.
Tile Roof Manual Addendum On tile roofs we glue directly to the tiles and use a one foot wide Powerstrip on each row of tiles
Wood Shake Roof Manual Addendum Powerstrips can be installed on wood shake roofs but beware that walking on an older wood shake roof can cause premature roof failure. You may want to change that wood roof to shingle before adding solar.
Ballasted Flat Roof Manual Addendum Staggered On flat roofs we ballast systems down and avoid making any don't make any roof penetrations at all.
Ballasted Flat Roof Manual Addendum Alternating If we have lots of room and want a less permanent flat roof installation that is easier to remove for roof service then space things out and use eovable couplings and keep it simpler.
Direct Ground Mount Manual Addendum Powerstrips can go on racks or in some cases directly on the ground.
Rack Construction Manual Addendum How to build a solar rack.
SWIM PC manual (Solar Water Internet Monitoring Programmable Controller) manual This is our own solar control and monitoring solution.
Solartouch solar controller by Pentair If you don't need boiler optimization or sophisticated monitoring this basic solar automation system is our recommended choice.
